This is a difficult and time consuming thing. Last year we spent $800 on Organic Local produce that came in a HUGE box each week for 25 weeks. That was great. There was a LOT of waste because some weeks were so busy we just couldn't process the food. I still might order veggies this year. But we have a LOT of seeds. So we're thinking maybe we should just try and grow our own. I think we could successfully grow many (most) of the veggies that we bought last year. I've even found a way to grow sweet potatoes that I think will work for this cold climate. So, now I'm hunting down plans for veggies that we want/need/eat (lots and LOTS of tomatoes and peas and beans).
This is the first year in many (like 5) that I've even cared about growing veggies. Once I plan my garden, I'll post where things are going to go.
For now you can see a backwards image of the book I'm playing with for my garden....

Cool! I got "Week-by-week Vegetable Gardener's Handbook" from the library and am using it as a guide, since I've never done this before. Keep us informed!
